La Trobe University has a number integrated research groups located at the The Royal Womens Hospital however there are three main areas. First the Midwifery and Maternity Services Research Unit, secondly the Judith Lumley Centre @ the Women’s and lastly La Trobe Direct Research.
 

Midwifery and Maternity Services Research Unit

The Midwifery and Maternity Services Research Unit’s program of research explores how we provide care for women attending the hospital for pregnancy care and to give birth. The Midwifery and Maternity Services Research Unit is headed by Professor Della Forster who is the ARCH Chair.

 

The Judith Lumley Centre @ the Women’s

The primary focus of Judith Lumley Centre @ the Women’s is breastfeeding research, led by Associate Professor Lisa Amir. Other projects include work statewide projects auspiced by the Women’s, but undertaken by JLC, and a range of multidisciplinary local and international projects. It is a space that promotes clinical research engagement, with hospital clinicians readily able to interact with researchers and research.

 

La Trobe Direct

A number of other research relationships exist between La Trobe University that we call La Trobe Direct.
