Clinician at Melbourne Health earns PhD from La Trobe on the spousal experience of aphasia

Allowing clinicians to explore new research questions within a supportive research environment is a key aim of the ARCH. Creating new research strengths for our partners is a key outcome. 

Dr Margaret Pozzebon graduated recently after publishing four papers on this important, but under researched issue. Dr Pozzebon found that clinicians need to give guidance and support for the spousal relationship consequences of living with Primary Progressive Aphasia.

Chronic Obstruction Pulmonary Disorder (COPD) is an umbrella term used to describe progressive lung diseases including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and non-reversible asthma. This disease is characterized by increasing breathlessness. An experience described by a patient advocate as “if you can’t breathe, nothing else matters”.
